Central Adoption Authority: The Ministry for Children and Family Affairs
 

Available Children
1 – 14 years old.

Special needs children are available.
 
Adoptive Parent Regulations
 
Age & Marital Status
Prospective adoptive parents must be at least 18 years older than the child, and there must be no more than a 45 year age difference between parent and child.

Married a minimum of 3 years.

Both prospective adoptive parents must be physically fit and mentally stable.

Household

There are no noted restrictions on the number of children residing in the home.

Processing Time & Travel
 
Application to Placement: Anywhere from 12 months – 3 years.

Three trips abroad are required for adoptive parents. For the first trip, with an average stay of 10- 14 days, both prospective adoptive parents are required to travel abroad to meet and live with the referred child. The second trip requires only one prospective parent to go through court finalization proceedings and then a 20 day appeal period. The third trip, with an average stay of 5 – 7 days, is for the final adoption court proceedings.
