Adoptive Parent Regulations
Age & Marital Status
Prospective adoptive parents must be
between the ages of 25 and 50.
Prospective adoptive parents, ages 50
and up may be eligible to adopt older
children over 1 year old.
Married a minimum of 3 years.
No more than 2 previous marriages
allowed per adoptive parent.
Household
There are no noted restrictions on
the number of children residing in the
home.
Processing Time & Travel
Application to Placement:
Anywhere from 8 – 16 months.
Both prospective adoptive parents are
required to travel to Kazakhstan for the
first trip and to appear before the
court. This takes approximately 2 ½
weeks. After the court date, one or
both parents may remain in Kazakhstan
for the process to be completed
(approximately 3-4 weeks).
