Adoptive Parent Regulations
Age & Marital Status
Prospective adoptive parents must be between the ages of 30 and 55 may adopt an infant or combined ages of adoptive parents must be less than 90 years.
Married a minimum of 5 years.
If previously married, no more than 1 previous marriage per adoptive parent with a minimum of 5 years in present marriage.
India will not place a child with a family with a history of substance abuse, criminal background, prospective adoptive parents on medications for psychological issues or a history of unstable relationships.
Household
The family may have up to 3 children presently in the household.
Processing Time & Travel
Application to Placement: Anywhere from 13 – 18 months.
One prospective adoptive parent is required for traveling abroad to pick up the child. Average stay is 10 - 15 days.
