Foster Care is generally defined as a temporary service provided for children/youth who cannot live with their families due to certain circumstances and are temporarily relocated from the home.

Domestic Foster Care

Domestic Foster Care is a temporary service provided domestically for children or youth who cannot live with their families. The goal of Domestic Foster Care is to provide a safe, family-home environment until reunification with the birth family is possible.

Foster to Adopt

Foster to Adopt means reunification with the child’s birth parents becomes an impossibility, then the court system with then decide if the child can be placed for adoption and if the child’s current Resource Family is viable to be considered for adoption.

Refugee Foster Care is taking in a child or youth who have been separated from their families due to war, conflict, natural disaster, or abuse by caregivers who were meant to protect them, typically from another country.
